Dosage and Administration | Intramuscular or intravenous injection of 1 mg/kg body weight for calf and 0.5 -2 mg/kg body weight for dogs and cats. |
Precaution | Intravenous injection should be done slowly. Not more than 10 mg per minute for adult animals and 5mg for newborn or young cubs. Severe reactions could occur, including death during or after the injection. Therefore the dose of intravenous injection should not be more than 5 mg for young animals. Intravenous injection is used only when other method could not be applied. There will be pain, swelling and haphalgesia on the intramuscular injection spot. Injection can be diluted with injectable saline solution, 5% glucose or 5% glucose saline. The diluted injection should be used immediately and the unfinished part should be discarded. Large doses can cause hemolytic anemia, high bilirubin, and jaundice for young livestock. Vitamin K3 may damage the liver. Therefore, Vitamin K1 is recommended for the animals having hepatic dysfunctions. Follow strictly the 'usage and dosage'. It should not be applied in large doses for a long term. |
